To be considered for the Hoosier Link program, students must first apply to Indiana University. The IU Bloomington Office of Admissions and Hoosier Link program staff consider several factors when reviewing potential candidates for the Hoosier Link program. Students must be current Indiana residents and have a GPA above 2.50 to be considered for the program. We will also consider other factors to ensure students admitted to the program are capable of and dedicated to successfully transferring to IU.
The Hoosier Link program allows students who were not initially accepted to IU Bloomington to complete 15 academic credits through Ivy Tech Bloomington while getting to explore and experience both campuses. Participants may choose to live with other Hoosier Link students in the on-campus community at Indiana University or opt to live off campus within the service area of Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington.
Hoosier Link students receive direct support throughout their first year of college with resources at both IU Bloomington and Ivy Tech Bloomington, peer mentors, ongoing transition support programs, a transfer success course, and regular support and check ins from Hoosier Link staff. If Hoosier Link students remain in good standing and complete the program requirements, they may transfer to IU Bloomington with just 15 academic credit hours rather than the required 26 for other transfer students. When these students transfer to IU Bloomington, they will use their Ivy Tech Bloomington GPA, rather than their high school GPA.
Overall, the Hoosier Link program is a great way for students who are unsure about the transition to college to receive support and guidance as they experience two campuses and find their right fit.
